OTA Sequence

This post describes the OTA ( Over the Air ) sequence.

The OTA sequence is expected to differ from the conventional reprogramming sequence.
Conventional reprogramming is typically performed at the dealership and is therefore likely to occur during the Startup sequence.
In contrast, the OTA sequence is performed over the network and is therefore expected to occur during the Shutdown sequence.

Therefore, it is expected that ECUs implementing OTA will adopt a system configuration based on the Shutdown sequence.

Startup and Shutdown System

Startup Sequence

  1. Start condition met: Start button ON or CAN wakeup
  2. Relay ON -> VCC Voltage supply -> Reset
  3. Reset Initialization
  4. Power Hold ON

Shutdown Sequence

  1. Shutdown条件: Start button OFF または一定時間CAN通信停止
  2. Shutdown mode(EEPROM書込み, OTA, etc)
  3. Power Hold OFF

OTA Sequence

  1. Server to IVI: ECU-A Update Notice
  2. IVI to ECU-A: ECU-A Update Notice
  3. ECU-A to IVI: ECU-A Ack
  4. IVI to Server: ECU-A Ack
  5. Server to IVI: ECU-A program download
  6. ECU-A to IVI: ECU-A download Notice
  7. IVI to ECU-A: ECU-A program download
  8. ECU-A: Reprogramming
  9. ECU-A: Shutdown
